This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Match to Marry (the "App"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the App.

We may make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date of this Privacy Policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates. You will be deemed to have been made aware of, will be subject to, and will be deemed to have accepted the changes in any revised Privacy Policy by your continued use of the App after the date such revised Privacy Policy is posted.

1Information We Collect

We collect information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is capable of being associated with you ("Personal Information"). We collect this information from you directly, automatically as you use the App, and, where applicable, from third-party sources (though currently, we do not utilize third-party sources for data collection).

aInformation You Provide to Us

When you register for an account, create a profile, or use the App, you may provide us with the following Personal Information:

  • Account Details: Your Name, Email Address, and Date of Birth.
  • Profile Information: Your images (including profile pictures) and other details you choose to add to your profile, such as your interests and preferences. This may include sensitive personal information such as your Race or Ethnicity, Political or Religious Beliefs, and Sexual Orientation, which you choose to disclose to other users on your profile.
  • Selfie for Verification: For photo verification purposes, you will need to capture a selfie of yourself. This selfie is used solely to verify the authenticity of your profile pictures and your identity.
  • Chats: Chats and messages you send to other users within the App are stored securely.

bAutomatically Collected Information

When you access and use the App, we may automatically collect certain information about your device and usage. This helps us understand how you use the App and improve our services. This includes:

  • Location Information: With your permission, we collect your approximate location (such as city or region) data through your device's GPS or other technologies only to determine nearby matches in your vicinity. We do not collect or store your precise GPS coordinates or home address. This may include background location collection to suggest nearby matches, recommend meeting points (a future feature), and support features like "last active" status. You can disable location tracking at any time through your device settings, but this may limit core features of the App.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you use the App, such as the features you access, the time you spend on the App, your interactions with other users, and logs of your activities.
  • Device Information: Details about the device you use to access the App, including the device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Cookies and Identifiers: We may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to collect usage details (such as logs, traffic data), and device information. You can manage these via your device or app settings, but disabling them may limit certain features.
  • Device Access: We may request permission to access your device's storage only to allow you to upload photos and videos to your profile. We do not access or collect any videos, voice, or sound recordings from your device.

2How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes, including to:

  • Provide and Improve Services: To operate, maintain, and provide all features of the App, including providing and improving matchmaking services, connecting you with other users, and developing new features.
  • Account Management & Verification: To create and manage your account, including verifying your identity via the selfie photo verification process.
  • Personalization & Matching: To personalize your experience within the App, show potential matches based on your location, sensitive data (such as Race or Ethnicity), and preferences, and tailor content.
  • Communication: To enable communication and chats between users, send app updates, support messages, and account notices.
  • Transaction Processing: To process subscriptions and virtual item purchases (via Google Play & RevenueCat).
  • Safety, Security, and Moderation: To ensure the safety and security of our users and the App, including preventing fraudulent activities, enforcing our terms of service, and moderating chat content in cases of user reports or violations.
  • Analytics: To understand how users interact with the App and to improve its functionalities and user experience.

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

All payments for subscriptions and in-app items are processed through the Google Play Store using the Google Billing Library. We use RevenueCat to manage billing logic, receipts, and access to paid features. We do not directly process or store your payment card information on our servers.

4Chat Messages

  • Stored Securely: Stored securely for functionality and safety review.
  • Used for Moderation: Used for moderation in cases of user reports or violations of our terms. We may review messages when a report is made or when required by law enforcement.
  • Confidential: Not shared with other users outside your direct conversation.
  • Email Content: We do not access, collect, or store the content of your personal emails or text messages (SMS/MMS).

5Data Storage and Security

Your data, including your Personal Information, is securely stored using Supabase, a cloud-based service with encryption and modern security standards. We implement:

  • Access Control: To prevent unauthorized access to your data.
  • Monitoring Systems: For suspicious activity.
  • Encryption: End-to-end encryption where applicable to protect data in transit and at rest.

While we implement robust security measures, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your Personal Information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If you choose to delete your profile, your data will be immediately deleted from our systems.

7Your Rights and Choices

  • Edit Profile Details: You can edit your profile details at any time through the App settings.
  • Delete Profile: You have the right to delete your profile at any time. Upon deletion, your data will be immediately removed from our systems.
  • Location Permissions: You can manage location permissions through your device settings at any time.
  • Data Download: Please note that users currently cannot download their data from the App.

8Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We value your privacy.

  • We do not share, sell, rent, or trade user data with third parties for their independent promotional or marketing purposes.
  • We currently do not use any third-party advertising or analytics services that would involve sharing your data.
  • Should we integrate such services in the future, users will be notified through an updated Privacy Policy, and consent will be obtained where required by applicable laws.

9Age Restriction

Our services are not intended for users under 18 years of age. If we discover that Personal Information has been collected from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information immediately. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately using the "Contact Us" information below.

10Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
